Joe is a prominent business leader and long time government reform advocate in South Dakota. He helped lead the successful change of Sioux Falls city government in the 1990s and played a leadership role in the 2016 ballot campaign to create top-two nonpartisan elections in South Dakota-which almost passed with 45% of the vote. He is also a lifelong Republican who believes strongly in the importance of competition in every arena. He recently penned a powerful op-ed that has spread across the country challenging his party to embrace electoral competition just as it has embraced market competition. He’s now working to organize business leaders who see healthy government as a prerequisite for economic growth.
