Lawyer has asked a judge to subpoena Trump kids
He’s playing for the other team, but a Manhattan lawyer has asked a judge to subpoena Trump kids Ivanka and Eric to lend credence to his class action lawsuit against the city and the Board of Elections.
Lawyer Mark Moody missed the deadline to switch from Independent to Democrat so he could vote for Bernie Sanders in the April primary, as did Ivanka and Eric — who made headlines when they, too, missed the Oct. 9, 2015 deadline to change party affiliation and where unable to vote for their father.
The attorney is hoping testimony from the Republican nominee’s second and third oldest will help upend the state’s current voter eligibility regulations for primaries, which he considers “among the most restrictive in the nation.”
Moody states that if the Trump kids — who have a “powerhouse army of lawyers” to counsel them on electoral laws — were unable to register in a timely fashion, it’s likely regular New Yorkers weren’t aware of the requirements either.
“The Trump children and I, together with millions of other New Yorkers, were disfranchised” by not being allowed to vote, he wrote in his original suit, filed in Manhattan in April.
Moody is also asking a judge to force the state and the NYC Board of Elections to turn over documents detailing “the number of people prohibited from voting in the primary due to the closed system,” which he says could be as high as 3 million.
He also wants “documents demonstrating how much tax payer money was spent on the primary election.”
If subpoenaed, the Trump kids could be deposed in Manhattan Supreme Court as early as this month.
